Interview with John Baldessari

It almost seems more apt to ask the question, "What is your favourite John Baldessari piece?" than, "Do you like the work of Baldessari?" His images, words an ideas are iconic and pervading—his art has a deep humour that will haunt and entertain your thoughts for years. His life as an artist has spanned almost fifty years, and at 81 years-old, he shows no sign of slowing down. In late 2012, he showed a new body of work at Marian Goodman that showcased a set of paintings as fresh and iconic as anything he had made before—*Eggs and Sausage* (2012) had me giggling out the door. I spoke with the sage at his studio in Venice, California, where he broke his art-making regiment to talk about his wonderfully routine days.
